New Jennie Rogers Principal Selected

We are so pleased to announce the hiring of the new principal at Jennie Rogers Elementary. Robin Kelly, assistant principal at Bate Middle School, will begin her duties as the principal of Jennie Rogers on July 1. She is a DHS graduate, a former Jennie Rogers student and she was also an intermediate teacher at JRES for 7 years. Mrs. Kelly has a wealth of administrative experience which includes serving as both an assistant principal and principal at an elementary school in Bardstown. She came back to Danville in 2010 and was interim principal at Bate Middle School for a year. She has been the assistant principal at Bate for the last 3 years. The SBDM council is excited to welcome Mrs. Kelly. She is an excellent leader and we believe she can build upon the rich history and traditions of Jennie Rogers. GO COUGARS!  READ MORE...

Danville Schools Education Foundation/HASP Elementary Strings Program

The Danville Schools Education Foundation/HASP Elementary After-School Strings Program will be performing a Spring Concert on Sunday, May 18th at 3:00. The concert will be in the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center at Danville High School. This concert is free and open to the public.  READ MORE...

The students at Jennie Rogers have been working in the garden during the school day with Mrs. Stamps. They have planted flowers and salad vegetables and have learned about composting. Soon the students will be planting squash, zucchini, and tomatoes. The students are learning the difference between a weed that needs to be pulled and a plant that we want to keep. Almost every class has had a chance to plant and weed in the garden. Everyone is invited to come to Gardening Night each Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30. You may bring tools or you may use our new tools purchased by Donors Choose.   READ MORE...

First Responder Career Day at Jennie Rogers

On Tuesday, March 18th, Jennie Rogers hosted a First Responder Career Day. Students were able visit with the fire department, state police, Danville police, ATF, and EMS workers. Students learned who to call in case of an emergency, what to do in case of severe storms like tornadoes, and how to further their education to become a First Responder when they grow up.  READ MORE...

Parent Representative needed for Danville Board of Education Superintendent Screening Committee

The Danville Board of Education is currently conducting a search for a new superintendent. The regulation requires that the Board have a screening committee. One of the members of that committee must be a parent representative. The district will be accepting nominations for a parent representative to serve on the screening committee. An individual may nominate themselves or another interested parent. Any parent of a child currently enrolled in the Danville Schools is eligible for nomination. Jennie Rogers 4th and 5th Graders Learn How To Stay Healthy

On Friday, February 7th, the 4th and 5th graders at Jennie Rogers learned how to stay heart healthy. Dr. Sharat Koul, a cardiologist at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center spoke to the students about how to live a healthy lifestyle. Fourth Grade Chicken Coop Co-op

This year the students in 4th grade have worked hard on a PBL project called Chicken Coop Co-op. The students planned, designed, and worked with community members to build a chicken coop behind Jennie Rogers. Jennie Rogers Fall Festival and Silent Auction

The Jennie Rogers Fall Festival and Silent Auction is tomorrow night from 5:30-7:00. Pizza will be provided for Jennie Rogers’ families. Each classroom will be hosting games to play. Please bring money to purchase game tickets ($1, $5, and $10 ticket cards). You can also visit the Book Fair and order JR t-shirts. We hope to see you! Dancing with the Danville STARS!

A HUGE congratulations goes to Mrs. Bernard and Mr. Beauman for representing Jennie Rogers in the 2nd annual "Dancing with the Danville Stars". Along with the other contestants from our district, the Danville Schools Education Foundation was able to raise over $20,000!!! Many thanks to all who participated and donated to this great cause! World Language and Arts Integration Grant

Congratulations to Jennie Rogers Elementary! Jennie Rogers has been awarded a World Language Arts Integration grant from the Kentucky Department of Education to expand, enrich and integrate their existing Spanish and Music, Dance, Drama and Visual Arts programs! The grant will be used by selected grade levels to plan and implement Arts and World Language integrated lessons and units. Planning will be facilitated by master educators and teaching artists with expertise in integrating the disciplines.   READ MORE...

Summer Registration Information
Jennie Rogers will have 3 Wednesdays in July that you may stop by the school to fill out a packet for each child attending Jennie Rogers Elementary. You will fill out the necessary paper work during your visit and get information about the 2013 – 2014 school year.
